Fire Season - What They Don't Show You in the Real Estate Listing
It's August. The air is thick with smoke from fires 100 miles away. My phone buzzes with yet another WatchDuty update. I'm checking the PG&E website to see if they'll shut off power preemptively. And I… Read More
When NOT to Sell Your Home (Even If Everyone's Telling You To)
Three times this month, I've ended consultations with "I don't think you should list your home right now."Two of those people looked relieved. One looked confused (and probably called another agent).… Read More
About Downsizing That Nobody Considers
When did "downsizing" become a dirty word? It's 3 PM on a Thursday. I'm sitting across from a couple in their early 70s in the home where they raised three kids, hosted countless Thanksgivings, and bui… Read More

Nobody talks about the bugs. The swarms of tiny insects that catch golden hour light and turn your backyard into a snow globe. Spring the start of the buggy season & we’ll see this during golden hour well into the fall! Think of this as your mountain reality check.

Something I’ve noticed after years in Santa Cruz mountain and coastal real estate:
The buyers who ask the most questions about the land (not just the house) tend to make the best long-term decisions.
They want to know about wildlife corridors. Water rights. Tree rights. What’s adjacent and what protections exist. Whe…

Down memory lane of one of my biggest passions today. This is where so much of “me” really started. A parrot. A rescue. A relationship that’s grown with me through most of my life. The second pic is my beloved childhood parrot who passed in high school. Followed by a few of my favorite characters I got to work with at wilton parrot rescue as a teen, where I eventually met and adopted Newtie, my 29yr old Nanday who still rules the roost today.
Volunteering at a parrot rescue as a kid taught me things I didn’t have words for at the time; that animals (and us humans) have specific, complex needs. That habitat matters. That home isn’t just shelter, it’s the whole environment around you: the light, the sounds, what’s living outside your window. I still use these lessons today when helping families navigate a new life stage with housing.
Newtie has been with me through every chapter since. And somewhere along the way, that awareness quietly shaped the way I see everything, including the places I’ve called home, and how I help others find their perfect home.
I think about that a lot lately 🥰
That’s so sweet! 🥹

If you really want to live here, then you have to be comfortable living amongst the insects too. These swarms are actually a very healthy ecosystem flex. Food for birds, bats, and all the creatures that keep these mountains alive.
Mountain living isn’t manicured. It’s this. Beautiful, wild, and occasionally requires you to breathe through your nose🦟
Don’t get me started on the mosquitos…

The buyers who ask the most questions about the land (not just the house) tend to make the best long-term decisions.
They want to know about wildlife corridors. Water rights. Tree rights. What’s adjacent and what protections exist. Whether the acreage could ever qualify for a conservation designation.
That’s the intersection I find myself drawn to, where land stewardship meets generational wealth strategy. Where the value of a property isn’t just what Zillow says, but what protecting it means for the next 50 years.
Because the clients who care about this? They’re also the ones making the most thoughtful, long-term decisions about wealth. And that’s exactly who I want to serve.

We probably looked at every mobile home in the county for sale over the past year! At times she felt like she needed to settle because nothing was speaking to her. I encouraged her to not buy something just because she felt like she needed to hurry and make a choice.
I will never rush someone to buy or sell a home, rather I coached her to get so specific in what she DOES want, not just out of a home but how she wants HER life to look and feel like. Because that is what will help you really feel ready to pull the trigger. After all, it was finally her chance to live life on her own terms, after catering her life to others over the years. So we knew what to look for and were determined to find just that.
And today she gets to call this fabulous home hers. THIS is why I do what I do 🙌🏽
A BIG congratulations to Sarah!
